Maintainer 2001
At the recent "MainDays 2001" industry conference in Düsseldorf, Munich Airport was voted maintainer of the year for 2001.

March 2001
The "Maintainer 2001" prize, sponsored by Infracor GmbH, Schuler Pressen GmbH & Co. KG and T.A. Cook Consultants, was awarded to Munich Airport in recognition of its convincing facility management concept for outside business. Technical managers from a range of industries discussed topics such as management of outside suppliers, across-the-board outsourcing, key figures and balanced scorecards, second sourcing and risk management. The climax of the two-day event was the final round of voting for the "Maintainer 2001" award: Three nominees pre-selected by a panel of experts presented their achievements to the audience of industry specialists. Veba Oel reported on its comprehensive implementation of reliability management, including SAP representation, and the Krombacher Brewery outlined its launch of teamwork in maintenance.

Penetrating the external market
Munich Airport then presented its programme for taking its facility management expertise to the open market. After restricting its facility management activities to its own operations in the past , Munich Airport achieved rapid success in penetrating the external market. Wolfgang Inderwies (TPF): "In our presentation we placed great emphasis on our cooperation with trades. Within the BMG Entertainment properties, 80 percent of revenues were achieved with small and mid-sized companies. The final vote of the assembled experts went to Munich Airport, with Veba Oel and the Krombacher Brewery sharing a well-deserved second prize. Since tradition calls for the award-winner to host a plant inspection during the coming year, "MainDays 2002" will take place for the first time in Munich.
