Diversity Management
Diversity in the workforce
Mitarbeiter verschiedenster Berufe auf dem Vorfeld
Traditionally, the airport has always been a place that unites wide diversity of people and cultures. This is reflected in our workforce.

Diversity as an opportunity
Living diversity is elemental to our corporate culture, which thrives on the multicultural mix of our employees. In an international business like ours, which benefits from the heterogeneity of its people and their different perceptions and cultural backgrounds, mutual acceptance and appreciation are key. Living diversity fosters a productive environment within the company, promotes integration and ensures equality of opportunity.

The Equal Treatment Act
A legal framework to support diversity was created by Germany's Equal Treatment Act (AGG), which passed into law in August 2006. The Act prohibits discrimination against employees on the basis of race, ethnic background, gender, religious persuasion, ideology, disability, sexual identity or age.

At FMG we ensure that our managerial employees receive detailed information and training on this legislation. We have also published documents on the corporate intranet and articles in our employee newspaper Flughafen Report to familiarize our employee base with the Act's basic provisions.

The goal
Flughafen München GmbH works actively to support employees with serious disabilities. For many years now, we have employed significantly more people with severe handicaps (or with equivalent status from a labor market perspective) than the 5 percent statutory requirement. In 2008, 8.78 percent of our people had a serious disability. In addition, under an internal policy decision, officially recognized disabled workshops in the airport's locale have preferred status when it comes to the award of relevant categories of contracts. The company also has extensive provisions in place to support an advance people with serious disabilities.
