With EMAS (the Eco Management and Audit Scheme) and ISO 14001 Munich Airport demonstrates its commitment to environmental protection and its efforts to embrace innovation and ecology in the expansion of its operations.

ISO 14001
The Environmental Management System (UMS) was introduced by FMG, the Munich Airport operating company, and validated in 2005. On August 4, 2008 the system was again declared by an independent auditor to be in compliance with DIN ISO 14001:2004 and the European EMAS Ordinance 761/2001.

The UMS demonstrates the airport's commitment to environmental protection and underscores its efforts to embrace innovation and ecological considerations in the expansion of its operations. The clearly defined targets and measures formulated for the various company departments whose activities are environmentally relevant also facilitate continual improvement of services and processes. The environmental declaration required by EMAS includes the public disclosure of the company’s environmental policy and a catalog of measures to reduce its environmental impact.
