South fire station
Responsibilities
Expansions and additions
The South Fire Station was expanded to provide fire protection for Terminal 2 as well as effective fire protection and technical support for air traffic. There was no alternative to the construction of an addition to the South Fire Station because there was not enough space for more personnel or vehicles.
Space was created on three levels for: offices (fire chief, management), archive, training rooms, clothes department with laundry for mission response clothing, heavy load storeroom for additional equipment, workshops, resting areas with showers, black and white area for mission response garments, required personnel rooms (coffee kitchen, social room and resting areas).

New vehicle hall
The hose maintenance facility and hose drying tower are also new. The tower is also provided with a practice wall where the fire department can conduct ladder exercises. The vehicle hall has space for six additional vehicles for fire protection for buildings and a washing area for response vehicles including a repair pit. In addition there is an eight-aisle storage hall for six utility roll-off containers and a crew transport vehicle.
