Alarm and response coordination
Fire department command posts
MItarbeiter der Einsatzzentrale
The Fire Department command center moved into new rooms in the South Fire Station in October 2002. Five mission coordination stations were set up, two of which are manned around the clock and have almost identical equipment.

Tasks
  • Receiving and handling emergency calls, fire department calls (112), damage reports and other messages relevant to the situation, fire protection and technical support in the airport area.
  • These include reports through "Alarmstern" (a communication resource serving as a central alarm system for response forces, authorities and specialized units, especially in the event of large-scale damage events at the airport such as aircraft accidents).
  • The fire reporting facilities at the airport currently include approximately 50,000 fire alarms, elevator emergency call equipment, personal emergency signal equipment, oil alarms and water main alarms.
  • Dispatching of and alarm calls to all fire department vehicles and equipment needed for a situation response in accordance with the alarm and response regulations.

Alarm and response regulations
  • Contacting/alarming various internal and external persons, organizations and authorities in response to various accidents/incidents (Erding District Administration Office as the catastrophe protection authority, “Local Response Coordinators” previously designated by the catastrophe protection authority, volunteer fire departments as indicated in the official alarm plan, Erding police department, the airport and the border police, Erding rescue coordination office, airport medical center, Munich Airport personnel with specialized knowledge or special authority)
  • Sending alarm to off-duty firefighters from the company fire department (e.g. via emergency services radio)
  • Support for the departments and companies responsible for the operation of the fire alarm equipment
  • Testing and scheduled maintenance of the fire alarm equipment (approx. 310,000 individual tasks per year)

Response support measures
  • Control of exit doors at the North and South Fire Stations
  • Control functions for fence gates, fire department elevators and extinguishing equipment on the airport grounds
  • Forwarding reports by radio to response crews in action

Inspections
We constantly inspect the fire alarm equipment in cooperation with outside companies. Each year a total of 310,000 procedures are carried out in connection with this equipment.

Technologies
  • Redundant response coordination system: Graphic information system displaying the exact location of every fire alarm site within seconds
  • FMS (radio reporting system): automatic dispatching of and alarm transmission to all vehicles via response coordination computer
  • Central radio and emergency call switching system with touch screens to operate all communication tools
  • Emergency call number 112
  • Emergency services radio 4m
  • Emergency services radio 2m
  • Trunked radio system
  • Elevator emergency call
  • Internal and external telephone communications
  • Emergency services alarm transmission
  • Operation and control of peripheral equipment aggregates such as extinguishing equipment / elevator controls
