Munich Airport publishes annual report
Airport operating company reports 50 million euro profit
Munich Airport continues to pile up record results. With the biggest passenger increase in its history – a gain of 3.2 million, or 10.4 percent as compared with the previous year – the airport ramped up its passenger volume to a new record level of approximately 34 million in 2007. The booming traffic figures were also reflected in the airport’s business results: FMG, the Munich Airport operating company, reported earnings after depreciation and taxes of nearly
50 million euros. This result was presented in the FMG’s new annual report, which appears this year in a new look and in a greatly expanded form.
For the first time, the company’s consolidated revenues – i.e. including the sales of subsidiaries – smashed the 1 billion euro barrier, with total revenues at the end of the fiscal year amounting to exactly €1,061,520,885. With 419,977 commercial take-offs and landings and a total freight volume of more than 451,000 metric tons, last year’s traffic statistics at Munich Airport also set new records.
In addition to all of the key data on traffic trends and business performance at Munich Airport in 2007, the new annual report also provides information on the performance of the non-aviation segment and other relevant airport issues. A special section discusses in detail the expansion of the airport’s infrastructure,
especially the plans for a third runway at Munich Airport. Another
chapter, entitled "Communication and regional dialog", documents the cooperation with the airport’s neighbors. The new report also includes comprehensive coverage of FMG’s special measures and projects that make an active contribution in the areas of climate protection and ecology in aviation. And as a guest from the airline industry, Thomas Klühr, Lufthansa's hub manager in Munich, appears in an extensive interview.
