A premiere at Munich Airport
Singapore Airlines launches scheduled service to Singapore
The Far East has moved a little closer to Bavaria: as of the start of the upcoming summer timetable, Singapore Airlines will be flying nonstop from Munich to Singapore five times a week. Beginning at the end of March the Boeing 777-300ER, originating in Manchester, will take off every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 13:35 and will land in Singapore the next day at 7:40 a.m.. The return flights will touch down in Munich early in the morning at 5:35.
"We're delighted to welcome such a major airline to our Bavarian hub," said Dr Michael Kerkloh, Munich Airport's president and CEO. Kerkloh sees enormous growth opportunities in the Asian routes: "Even during cyclical downturns in overall traffic figures, passenger traffic on flights to the Far East has increased by 2.1 percent. These flights therefore create value and foster competitiveness and employment in Bavaria."
