MARCH 30 – JULY 15: “Women” Exhibition in Munich
The Pinakothek der Moderne presents the exhibition “Women”, with works by three exceptional artists of the 20th century: Pablo Picasso, Max Beckmann and Willem de Kooning. In 90 masterpieces, provided by international museums and private collectors the artists depict women and the role attributed to women in art.

APRIL 20 – MAY 6: Spring Festival at Theresienwiese
This year, Munich is celebrating the 48th “little sister of the Oktoberfest”, the Spring Festival at the Theresienwiese. Fairground rides, artists and stands with local delicacies attract both local residents and tourists alike. Highlights of the festival include the huge flea market on April 21 and various firework displays.

APRIL 20 – SEP 1: “200 years of beer garden” Exhibition
In honor of the 200th anniversary of beer gardens, Munich’s Beer and Oktoberfestmuseum offers a special exhibition about the history of beer and beer gardens. Visitors can learn about migration of people, the monasteries, the purity law, and the unique quality of Munich's beer.

MAY 4: May Pole Celebration at the Viktualienmarkt, Munich
Setting up a Maypole at the beginning of May is both a long-standing Bavarian tradition and a visual spectacle, as the pole can be up to 40 meters high. This year on the 4th of May a new may pole will be set up in the heart of Munich – the famous Viktualienmarkt. It will be the 12th pole to be erected at Munich’s oldest market square since 1962.

MAY 16 – SEP 2: 350th Anniversary of Nuremberg’s Art Academy
Nuremberg is celebrating the “year of art” with the 350th anniversary of its famous Art Academy. The highlight of this event is Germany’s largest exhibition about Albrecht Dürer, one of the famous artists of the Northern Renaissance. More than 150 pieces about his biography, social environment and early work are displayed in the Germanic National Museum.
