Requirements
Official driver’s license of at least class B (3)
- Holders of a driver´s license that has not been issued in a country belonging to the EU/EEA, also need an international driver´s license or an officially certified translation of their license.
- Valid driving authorization for the apron
- Munich Airport security pass (not a visitor’s ID card!)
Validity period and renewal
As of 1 January 2021 all previously acquired driving licenses will have a term of two years. By completing the “apron driving license recurrent” course, this term can be extended by two years from the completion date.
Please note that the recurrent course must take place before the driving license expires.
The limited term is based on Regulations (EC) No 1108/2009 and No 139/2014 (additionally in Annex IV, Subpart B, ADR.OPS.B.024).
Current notice
Since December 15, 2025, driving licenses are no longer issued in card form. In the future, your acquired training certificate will serve as proof.
You can present the certificate in printed form or digitally on your smartphone.
